Creating a Moss Planter

The beauty of creating moss-lined planters is that you can move them around and update them from season to season.

Step 1
Gather the moss lining and lightly spray it with water to soften its form.

Step 2
Take sections of the moss and push it into the form of the basket.

Step 3
Once the moss is in place, put a thin layer of landscape fabric on the inside and fill the basket 3/4 full with topsoil, organic matter, and moss. Pack this in fairly tightly to alleviate air pockets.

Step 4
Add your favourite plants and fill in with the rest of the topsoil mix.

Note: You can lightly spray the moss everytime you water your plants in order to keep it fresh looking. Occasionally you may have to adjust or add additional moss as it dries and weathers.
